How’s it going, guys? Let’s talk about my current roommate for a little bit. We’ll call him George for privacy reasons. Yep, I live with a guy and he’s not my boyfriend. He’s a friend of a friend of a friend’s cousin, or something like that. He bought an old house and was looking for a roommate to help pay for some of the renovations he wanted to do to the house, I was looking for a place to live, and that’s how we ended up living together.
I hung out with him in a group setting several times before deciding to move in with him. I hadn’t lived with someone I didn’t know since my freshman year in college. (You can read about my freshman roommate here) I’ve been living in George’s house for about 6 months now. I don’t see him that often because I try to stay out of the house as much as possible.
George and his dad are doing all of the renovations on his house, so there’s always a lot of loud noises, tools laying around, and dirt and dust everywhere. They go to Home Depot daily, which is where all of my rent is being spent I’m sure. He’s really messy too, but I think most men are messy. I’m not a neat freak, but leaving dirty dishes and dirty socks all over the house is pretty annoying.
So about a week after I moved in, I came home from work early because I wasn’t feeling very well and found George walking around the house completely naked. That was awkward, especially because he didn’t bother to cover himself at all and stood in the kitchen talking to me about his latest house project. I get that it’s his house and he can do whatever he wants, but that was a little too much for me. My face still turns bright red thinking about it. I haven’t had any other run-ins with naked George, but I think that’s because I’m hardly ever at home. I wonder if he walks around naked while his dad is over.
I went for a walk through the neighborhood the other day and one of the neighbors a few houses down from us was outside. She told me she was so happy that George had found a wife and that she could tell that I was making him work harder to get that house fixed up. I laughed at the thought of being married to George, and quickly explained that I was just a roommate and that we had no romantic involvement. She said she had been watching our house for quite awhile and that it did seem odd that she never saw us together. It’s funny how people create stories in their heads while people-watching. Now I feel like I’m being watched all the time so I better be on my best behavior going in and out of the house 🙂
I’m just waiting for something crazy or weird to happen with George, since I’ve been on a roll with odd roommates for quite some time now. The nakedness threw me off, and it is strange to me that he is alright with being naked in front of me. I guess it’s a guy thing? Maybe I just don’t have that much self confidence to do the same.
Until next time,
